Japarov plans to visit Belgium

The European Union commended the Kyrgyz side for providing humanitarian support to the Afghan people.

On October 8, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov received a European Union delegation led by EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala. The President informed that he intended to visit Brussels and discuss the entire spectrum of the joint agenda of cooperation with the European Union leadership, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Japarov identified trade and economic contacts, investments and financial and technical cooperation as the priority areas of cooperation.

The leader of Kyrgyzstan emphasised that much attention was paid to freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan – media representatives were not persecuted for their opinions, and Kyrgyzstan had no intention to turn away from the democratic path.

Speaking about regional security, the EU Special Representative highly evaluated the steps taken by Kyrgyzstan to provide humanitarian support to the people of Afghanistan.

The European side expressed readiness and interest in fruitful and comprehensive cooperation on all issues of mutual interest.
