Turkmen officials learn how to ensure transport security

Experts from Georgia and the Russian Federation told civil servants about the importance of logistical stability during a pandemic.

On September 7 and 8, in the capital of Turkmenistan, the Centre of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe organized an online seminar on the modernization of transport and transit procedures during emergency situations, particularly during the pandemic period. Experts from Georgia and Russia took part in the event. It was reported by the OSCE press-office on September 9 

The training sessions focused on tools to improve the efficiency of logistics operations management. The seminar was attended by employees of the Ministry of Trade, State Customs Service, transport state companies.

Experts presented a digital ecosystem for international rail transport. Particular attention was paid to the use of digital smart technologies to ensure the safety of supply chains against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. The specialists also spoke about the importance of the single window mechanism in transport and logistics operations.

According to William Leaf, Officer-in-Charge of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, one of the conditions for the growth and stability of the economy is facilitated cross-border transportation. He drew attention to the vital necessity of good governance at border crossing points.
