EBRD supports large Turkmen agricultural company amid pandemic

The bank lent 2.5 million dollars to Parahat to improve the operational efficiency of the enterprise.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has allocated a 2.5 million dollars loan to a large Turkmen agribusiness company Parahat. These funds will help support a private enterprise amid the coronavirus pandemic. It was reported by the press office of the EBRD on August 31.

The funds will be used to improve the operating efficiency of the company and expand the range of related products. The money will replenish the working capital of Parahat, as well as increase its export potential.

The company’s management plans to purchase special equipment for reconditioning and refilling glass bottles, packaging fruit, vegetable purees and concentrates. The technical equipment will allow reusing glass containers, which, in turn, will save resources.

The new packaging equipment will increase the shelf life of products as well as improve their transportability. Such improvements will give impetus to the export of fruit and vegetable concentrates.

It must be added that in total, the EBRD has invested about 293 million dollars in 80 projects in the Central Asian country.

Parahat is one of the largest modern high-tech enterprises in Turkmenistan. It produces natural juices and nectars, cold tea, carbonated drinks, fruit and vegetable purees, dairy products, concentrates, meat products.
