Integrated development priorities of Surkhandarya Region identified

The President suggested exempting newly established companies from paying taxes to boost growth in four districts in the region.

On June 2, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to identify the integrated development priorities of Surkhandarya Region and to improve living standards through using the mahallabay mechanism. The President suggested exempting newly established companies from paying land and property taxes to boost growth in four districts in the region, the leader's press service reports.

In 2021-2022, 1,177 investment projects worth 16.8 trillion soums will be implemented in Surkhandarya. These projects are expected to create 25,000 new jobs.

“The development of such driving sectors as the building materials, light, leather, food, power and manufacturing industries needs to be accelerated, and the number of new projects in the region needs to be increased,” Mirziyoyev said.

The instructions were given to compensate a portion of transportation costs and interest on the loan for exports of building materials and provide local industrial enterprises with concessions for imports of products and semi-finished materials. The investment projects worth 3.1 trillion soums are to be implemented in the agricultural sector.
