Leaders of Kazakhstan and Switzerland agree on new niches of cooperation

Tokayev emphasised that Kazakhstan would set up substantial preferences and incentives in all areas of joint activities.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held talks with President of Switzerland Guy Parmelin. The leaders of the two states discussed the current state and growing economic, political and humanitarian relationships between the two countries. The talks took place via video conference, the website of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The interlocutors noted the progressive development of Kazakhstan-Switzerland partnerships and highlighted the need to implement investment projects in the logistics, mechanical engineering, agriculture, tourism and digital tech sectors and a green economy. Emphasising the multifaceted nature of cooperation with Switzerland, Tokayev noted that over 40 companies with Swiss capital currently operated in the Republic. The leader of Kazakhstan stressed that the countries had every opportunity to promote successful interaction, and Kazakhstan would set up substantial preferences and incentives in all areas of joint activities.

Guy Parmelin highly evaluated bilateral cooperation and confirmed Switzerland’s willingness to enhance and scale up cooperation.

Noting a favourable investment climate in Kazakhstan, Tokayev suggested expanding the geography of partnerships and trade relations, building on the profound potential of the parties. In this context, the President of Kazakhstan welcomed the intention of Swiss companies to participate in rail infrastructure development projects in Kazakhstan.
