The summer of 2024 is expected to be hot and dry in Kazakhstan, particularly in the west, east and south of the country. Prime Minister of the Republic Olzhas Bektenov called on the high-ranking officials not to forget about wildfire preparedness, the press office reports.
About 30 wildfires have been registered in the country since the beginning of the year.
Reed and grass fires have occurred in several regions of the country. The wildfire action plan is being implemented, but there are some shortcomings. The Chairman of the Government highlighted some problems in preparing for wildfires and urged to intensify measures to protect populated areas. A lack of equipment and machinery leads to delays in emergency response.
Olzhas Bektenov instructed that advanced fire detection technologies be adopted. The early detection system covers only 2% of the forest fund. The smart system in the Burabay Park helped prevent the spread of wildfires and speed up emergency response; it will be used in the future.
