The leaders of the countries Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Xi Jinping touched upon the topic during a telephone conversation.
On May 6, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. They discussed the main issues of further collaboration, having noted that the states have a colossal potential in this direction, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
Special attention was paid to partnership issues at the international and regional levels, in particular within the United Nations. The presidents agreed that it was necessary to widen relations in trade, transport and communications, the textile and chemical industries, and culture.
The emphasis was placed on interstate relations in the oil and gas sector. Berdimuhamedov and Xi Jinping stressed that the countries had already implemented a number of large joint projects in this area, including the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, the main purpose of which is the supply of Turkmen gas to the PRC.
The presidents also noted that they intend to expand cooperation in the fight against COVID-19. The leader of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to his colleague for the effective partnership in the healthcare.
