Tajikistan increases imports of petroleum products

A total of about 540,000 tons are imported. The main exporter is Russia.

In the first 11 months of 2020, Tajikistan increased imports of petroleum products. Energy resources brought in from abroad totalled over 540,000 tons. Russia is the main source of imports. On December 26, the press office of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan told the news.

The Agency on Statistics reported that this year, imports of petroleum products had risen by 18% as compared with the same period of 2019. The price for these products had dropped by 15%.

According to statistics, 90% of petroleum products were supplied from the Russian Federation. The rest of the total amount of energy resources came from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Energy plans to supply about 830,000 tons of energy resources to the Republic next year. Gasoline, diesel and petroleum coke will fill about 50% of imports. Petroleum products will be delivered from Russia on a duty free basis.

As was reported, the yearly oil demand in Tajikistan is about 600,000 tones.
