Russia opens its market for livestock products from Kazakhstan

However, only from the prosperous regions.

On January 15, Russia lifted import restrictions on livestock products from Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported.

As reported, this decision was adopted following the talks between the ministers of agriculture of Russia and Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov and Dmitry Patrushev, which took place at the end of last year.

Aidarbek Saparov noted that this step is the result of work being done to remove barriers to Kazakhstan’s exports and contributes to trade and economic relations between the two countries.

In January 2022, Russia banned imports of livestock products from Kazakhstan due to veterinary problems in some regions of Kazakhstan. Now the market is open again to livestock products produced in the prosperous regions of the Republic. The work towards lifting import restrictions for other regions is underway.

According to the new rules, Russia can import beef, lamb, pork, milk and dairy products and meat products from Kazakhstan.
