Kazakhstan expects air passenger traffic to rise by 20% in 2023

In January-November this year, the airlines of the Republic have carried 12.3 million passengers.

According to Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev, the airlines of Kazakhstan are set to increase passenger traffic to 13 million people by the end of 2023, Interfax reports. This is 20% more than a year ago.

In January-November this year, the airlines of the Republic have carried 12.3 million passengers, which is 23% more than a year ago. This figure is expected to reach 13 million by the end of the year. For comparison, the airlines of Kazakhstan carried 10.8 million passengers in 2022.

Airport traffic increased by 25% and reached 24 million people over 11 months of the year. A significant growth was observed at the airports of Almaty and Astana that set record for passenger traffic: 9 million passengers (a 34% increase) and 7 million passengers (a 26% increase) respectively.

With the aim of removing intermediaries and reducing their influence on the final jet fuel cost, direct purchases of fuels and lubricants from oil refineries in other countries are under consideration.
