Uzbekistan is planning to build an automobile plant that will manufacture 10,000 electric vehicles per year in 2024. This decision was announced at the meeting led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during which other proposals for the development of Uzbekistan’s automotive and agricultural engineering industries were put forward, the press office of the President of the Republic reported.
Since many global automakers are transitioning to electric vehicle manufacturing, Uzbekistan cannot lag behind in this industry not to lose its place in the market in the future. The President emphasised the importance of manufacturing electric cars and ordered the production of electric car components to be launched.
The plans to increase passenger car manufacturing to 1 million units by 2030 and agricultural machinery manufacturing to 16,000 units per year were announced at the meeting. Measures to be taken in 2024 to achieve these objectives were identified.
