On July 9, Bishop Savvatiy held the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Karakol on the feast day of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, the press office of the Bishkek and Kyrgyz diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church reported to CentralAsia.news.
At the end of the liturgy, the bishop congratulated the faithful on the feast and urged them to pray for the restoration of the Holy Trinity Monastery. He emphasised the importance of praying for not only temporary benefits, but also spiritual well-being.
In his archpastoral message, Bishop Savvatiy noted that the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God is of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the ceremony, Bishop Savvatiy read out the Decree of Patriarch Kirill on conferring the status of a cathedral on the Trinity Church.
The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God is considered the patroness of the Kyrgyz land and three empires: Roman, Byzantine and Russian.
