International Music Festival opens in Astana

The Operalia Classical Music Festival has brought together musicians, opera singers and ballet dancers from 12 countries of the world in the capital of Kazakhstan.

On June 20, the Astana Opera — the main theatre of the capital of Kazakhstan hosted the opening ceremony of the Operalia International Music Festival, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, the press office of the Ministry reports.

The programme includes opera and ballet productions, concerts of symphony and chamber orchestras and performances by classical music artists from all over the world, including Kazakhstan.

Musicians and conductors from 12 countries, including Italy, Germany, Korea, Bulgaria, Mongolia and neighbouring countries have arrived in Astana to participate in the Opera Art Festival.

On the first day of the festival, the Czech and Kazakh artists performed in the ballet premieres on the stage of the Astana Opera. Such masterpieces of the world opera and ballet art as Aida by G. Verdi, Turandot by G. Puccini and Cinderella by S. Prokofiev are to be performed. A concert of the symphony orchestras, a gala concert of opera singers and a chamber music concert are to take place.

The Opera Art Festival will end on July 16.
