Turkish company to build new combined cycle gas plant in Uzbekistan

The outcomes of the implemented projects, as well as the prospects of further investment cooperation were evaluated.

On March 14, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held talks with Executive Director of Cengiz Enerji Ahmet Cengiz. The interlocutors evaluated the outcomes of the implemented projects, as well as the prospects for deepening investment partnerships to develop Uzbekistan’s power sector, the press office of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade reported to CentralAsia.news.

The parties focused on the commissioning of the modern combined cycle gas plant, one of which with a capacity of 240 MW started working in Tashkent Region in June last year, and the other with a capacity of 220 MW in Syrdarya Region in December.

The Turkish side noted the success of joint work and informed about its intention to expand the current investment portfolio of power generation projects. The Turkish businessman proposed implementing of a combined cycle gas plant with a capacity of 400 MW in Jizzakh Region. This initiative will save 286 million cubic metres of gas annually, which is $103 million in monetary terms.

Following the bilateral meeting, the parties harmonised the format of further cooperation in implementing the new promising project.
