Essential food commodity prices plunge in Kazakhstan

The Government commented on the measures taken by the regions to stabilize essential food prices.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin led a regular government meeting last Saturday on the measures taken by the regions to stabilise essential food commodity prices, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

According to the Committee for Trade under the Ministry of Trade and Integration, a decline in prices for sugar (0.6%), buckwheat (0.4%), chicken (0.3%), milk (0.2%) and onions (0.1%) was recorded last week. %). Prices for carrots and sunflower oil remain unchanged. Prices for cabbage, rice and kefir grew by 1,1%, 0,9% and 0,6% respectively.

Food commodity prices decreased by 0,1% in Mangistau Region during the reporting period. Prices for nearly all essential food commodities showed zero growth. A decline in prices was recorded for sunflower oil (0.5%), cabbage (2.8%), sugar (1.5%) and eggs (0.4%).

«Based on the inventory results, many regions see a deficit of the confirmed vegetable stocks. Now we are working on the distribution of vegetables among the regions to fill a gap in each market,» Chairman of the Committee for Trade Aidar Abildabekov said.
