President of Uzbekistan continues to build “welfare state”

The Government of the Republic was tasked to develop the social sphere in 2023.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held gave the officials specific instructions at the government meeting, which should contribute to building a “welfare state”, including in the education sector, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.News.

The Uzbek leader emphasised the need to give all citizens the opportunity to fulfil their potential. In this regard, education plays an important role. Consistent efforts are therefore taken to build new schools and kindergartens, establish new universities and increase the number of school places.

In 2022, 386,000 young people received secondary education. Of them, 137,000 young people entered universities and 20,000 young people were enrolled in colleges and vocational schools. The rest of school-leavers, who have neither skills nor profession, decided not to continue education and went to the labour market.

With the aim of giving these school-leavers new opportunities, the President instructed to teach two foreign languages at schools. Moreover, schoolchildren will be taught different professions. The Ministry of School and Preschool Education was tasked to implement these innovations.
