Uzbek Foreign Minister meets with UN Under-Secretary-General

The talks focused on major aspects of Uzbekistan-UN cooperation in key areas.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with UN Under-Secretary-General, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

The interlocutors discussed major aspects of further cooperation between Uzbekistan and the largest international organisation. Vladimir Norov noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to strengthening contacts with the UN and its agencies, takes an active part in the activities of the United Nations and puts forward constructive initiatives aimed at addressing global and regional challenges.

Tatyana Valovaya confirmed Uzbekistan’s active part in cooperation with the UN. She also emphasised the intention of the global community to support the initiatives of Uzbekistan and ongoing large-scale reforms and transformations in the country.

The talks also focused on enhancing cooperation on issues of regional and international politics, ensuring gender equality and human rights, combating climate change, protecting nature and mitigating the impacts of the Aral Sea crisis.
