Ashgabat hosts Turkmenistan-Austria Business Forum

The participants discussed priority areas of interaction between industry departments and business communities of the two states.

On November 29, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber organised the Turkmenistan-Austria Business Forum in Ashgabat that brought together the government and business delegations of the two states. The participants discussed promising areas of cooperation between industry departments and entrepreneurs within the existing trade and economic potential, particularly in the industrial, energy, agro-industrial and transport sectors, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reported.

The parties identified further steps to take bilateral relations to a new level in the economic, investment and hi-tech sectors, considered increasing bilateral trade and outlined joint work plans.

Representatives of ministries and departments, private companies and entrepreneurs of the two countries held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the forum, which resulted in the signing of documents, establishing new business contacts and identifying prospects of partnerships. The Balam confectionery enterprise and AKRAS Flavours GmbH and the Halk Market supermarket chain and the Austria-Turkmenistan Society signed memoranda of cooperation.

Meetings held in the framework of the business forum contribute to developing joint approaches to building a single platform for further fruitful partnerships. On November 30, the participants will continue to discuss the upcoming tasks at the eleventh meeting of the Joint Turkmenistan-Austria Commission.
