On October 28, Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon took part in an extraordinary online session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The participants listened to the report of the Secretary General on the results of the CSTO Mission in Armenia on September 15-24 this year, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
In his speech, the Tajik leader reaffirmed Tajikistan’s intention to continue to adhere to its obligations within the CSTO and emphasised the need to take effective measures within the Organization to further strengthen the crisis response system.
The CSTO Member States noted the importance of intensifying political and diplomatic measures to settle the situation and enhance collective security in the Caucasus region, including in accordance with the tripartite statements by the leaders of Russia, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Following the meeting, the parties instructed the Foreign Affairs Council to develop further complex measures so that the CSTO would provide assistance in settling the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
