Uzbekistan and Spain promote cooperation in forestry

The talks on cooperation in the forest sector resulted in the signing of a Memorandum between the State Committee on Forestry and the Spanish company.

Director of the Forestry Research Institute under the State Committee on Forestry of Uzbekistan Nurilla Mukhsimov and General Director of the Spanish agro-industrial company Gedepsa Alejandro Pastrana signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the implementation of innovative projects via videoconference, the Dunyo News Agency reported.

The Memorandum of Cooperation envisages adopting innovative technologies in Uzbekistan’s forest sector to improve the ecosystem, increase pasture productivity, grow walnut and pistachio trees, create clusters for cultivation of medicinal plants and adapt a number of plants to soil and climatic conditions of Uzbekistan.

It is planned to implement oilseed development projects in Uzbekistan in cooperation with specialists from the Spanish companies Aromaticas del Piedra and Alcamancha. The Spanish specialists proposed to create a 500-hectare cluster for cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants and build a plant that would process oilseeds and produce finished products.
