Meredov and Lavrov discuss Berdimuhamedov's visit and Caspian summit

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Russia raised the topics in a telephone conversation.

On June 21, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov spoke by phone with the Head of the MFA of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov. They discussed mutually beneficial cooperation. It was reported by the press office of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

First of all, officials touched upon several topics related to bilateral interaction between the states. The emphasis was placed on the future of the partnership outlined during the visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Moscow and within the agreements reached following the working trip.

Attention was also paid to the arrangement of the sixth Caspian summit, which is to be held in the capital of Turkmenistan on June 29 this year.

Following the results of Berdimuhamedov’s visit to the Russian Federation, a large package of documents aimed at developing bilateral cooperation at a new stage of the countries' strategic partnership was signed. Expert Yuri Aronsky noted that energy has traditionally been one of the key vectors of Turkmen-Russian cooperation.
