Monument to great Kazakh thinker Abai unveiled in Bishkek

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev emphasised that this step illustrates the open respect of Kyrgyzstan to the Kazakh people.

On May 26, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov took part in a solemn commemoration ceremony of the great Kazakh thinker, poet, musician, scholar and founder of Kazakh written literature Abay Kunanbayev in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. A monument to the classic was unveiled in Bishkek, the press office of Akorda reported.

The leader of Kazakhstan noted that the installation of the statue of the poet is a historical episode in the system of spiritual relations of the two peoples. He emphasised that this event particularly illustrates the respect of Kyrgyzstan to the Kazakh people. Tokayev sincerely thanked Japarov for supporting the noble project.

The Kazakh leader noted that this event would give the fraternal countries situated at the foot of the Alatau Mountains a significant impetus to bring closer together. Tokayev said great Abay wrote about the spiritual kinship of the nations in his original and bright creative works. The writer says, “None of the Kazakhs will doubt the common origins of the Kyrgyz and the Kazakhs."

Complementing the thinker’s words, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan specified that the Kazakh and Kyrgyz societies are recognizable by the common roots and language, common spirit and shared goals. Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev noted that the memory of Manas, whose name every Kazakh pronounces with reverence, will be perpetuated in Kazakhstan in the near future.
