On February 11, a meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov symbolically launched the next stage of the socio-economic evolution of the country. The highest national event became the starting point for the implementation of the «National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022-2052».
Since ancient times, Turkmens believed in gaining a strong and powerful stronghold, therefore, the symbolism in the name of the program — «Revival of a new epoch of the powerful state» makes sense from a historical and ethnic perspective.
In an interview to CentralAsia.news, Vadim Shagiakhmedov, observer of Central Asia, spoke about the main provisions of the fundamental document.
The key to a better life
The 30-year program is nothing more than an action plan that includes projections for improving the areas of industry, energy, foreign trade, education, science, healthcare, agriculture, tourism and many other areas.
The economic part of the concept is dominated by the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, designed to promote economic independence and the growth of the real well-being of the population. That is, people will be provided with unhindered access to inexpensive, reliable, modern energy supply and a full-fledged job. In order to stimulate stable growth of the national economy, a solid infrastructure capable of keeping pace with the times will be created, a steady course of industrialization with the effective innovations will be comprehensively maintained.
The formation of a model of an innovative, high-tech and competitive digital economy, the expansion of the geography of market relations, will be the key to a stable improvement in the quality of life of the Turkmen society.
Investments. Export. Import substitution. Transport
This document also provides for the adoption of effective steps aimed at attracting foreign investment and their purposeful use as priorities.
In the near future, it is also planned to implement a set of measures to increase the volume of exports of domestic products and transition to maximum import substitution. This will be put into practice through the further development of the non-state sector of the economy.
In addition, the program sets specific tasks aimed at the revival of the Great Silk Road. The ancient caravan road should come to life in a new format, thanks to the creation of convenient and safe transit corridors for all types of transport. Emphasis is placed on the modernization of the national communication system. Successful implementation of this section of the program will significantly increase the return of the domestic communications environment, putting this area on the path of stable development, taking into account world analogues.
Thus, the key aspects of the concept are aimed at a comprehensive and innovative diversification of the sectors of the domestic economy, further improvement of social conditions and, of course, ensuring a happy and prosperous life for the people of Turkmenistan.
