UNOPS delivers medical equipment to Turkmenistan from Japan

It was done as part of a $2.8 million grant project launched by the Japanese government and the UN Office for Project Services.

The Government of Japan has sent medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan within the framework of the project «Enhancing the Healthcare System through the Provision of Medical Equipment in Turkmenistan». It was reported by the press office of the United Nations on December 20.

Advanced mobile x-rays, gastroscopy, duodenoscopy, colonoscopy and gastroscopy systems arrived at the Lukmanchylyk Enjamlary warehouse.

The event was attended by Yamamoto Hiroyuki, Ambassador of Japan, Mohammad Fayyazi, UN Resident Coordinator,  Freya von Groote, UNOPS Director of Office and representatives of the Ministry of Health.

The project was launched by the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers and the United Nations Office for Project Services in March 2021. It is estimated at 2.8 million dollars. The contribution was made by the government of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Fayyazi noted that the equipment will improve the quality of and access to essential health services.
