Kyrgyzstan reduces PCR-test validity period to 48 hours

This measure aims to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus into the country.

On December 9, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov reviewed the current epidemiological situation in the country at the meeting on the fight against coronavirus, in particular vaccine rollout and measures to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus into the country, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Task Force members to develop an effective algorithm of actions to prevent the spread of the new variant of the coronavirus.

Since the Government is not going to close borders, tough measures to reduce the risk of the importation and transmission of the Omicron variant need to be implemented.

For this purpose, an online registration form for all travellers arriving in the Republic will be introduced in the coming days.

The Ministry of Health was tasked to consider the possibility of reducing the PCR-test validity period for travellers crossing the border of Kyrgyzstan. The validity period is to be reduced to 48 hours.

The current epidemiological situation in Kyrgyzstan is reported to be stable.
