On November 15, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the projects aimed at improving the transport platform of Tashkent. Two possible routes of an underground line were considered – across either Mirzo Ulugbek Street or Buyuk Ipak Yuli Street, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
According to the estimates, an 8.6-km line with a daily ridership of 62,000 passengers will run across Mirzo Ulugbek Street. The second route – an 8-km line with a daily ridership of 55,000 passengers will run across Buyuk Ipak Yuli Street. Construction is expected to last up to 5 years.
The second stage of the overground metro project envisages building more than 11 kilometres of elevated tracks from the Kuylyuk massif to Sergeli Line Station 5. The line will have 7 stations and is to reach a daily ridership of 38,000 passengers.
The leader of Uzbekistan reviewed the project of an overpass from Babur Street to Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport that envisaged building a bypass ring bridge.
The technical and economic parameters of these projects were discussed during the presentation; Mirziyoyev recommended that the projects be revised to ensure greater convenience, quality and safety.
