Dushanbe to have world’s tallest symbol of Navruz

An architectural structure featuring the dish with sumanak will stand on the central square of the capital of Tajikistan.

The world’s tallest dish with sumanak that is a symbol of the holiday marking the arrival of spring will be installed in honour of Navruz in the centre of the capital of Tajikistan. This architectural structure will have a height of 30 metres, Head of the Outdoor Advertising and Decoration in Dushanbe government agency Nurjakhon Ismoilzoda said in an interview with the Khovar News Agency.

He said a pyramid of wheat would be installed on the Dusti Square next to the monument to Shah Ismoil Somoni. The diameter of the structure is 16 metres. There will be a festive dastarhan 10 metres long and 6 metres wide nearby.

The wall of spring flowers 45 metres long and 3 metres high will rise in the centre of the city. Trees and other plants symbolizing Navruz will also be planted there.

The structure featuring the dish with sumanak will be installed in Dushanbe for the second year in a row. In 2019, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon approved the emblem of the international holiday marking the arrival of spring.

This year’s Navruz celebrations will take place without theatrical performances. The Government allowed people to arrange concerts, sporting events and festivities on small venues.
