Flood-hit Kazakhstan receives humanitarian aid from Tajikistan

Humanitarian aid is delivered on the initiative of President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon.

Tajikistan is sending a humanitarian convoy to help the people of flood-hit Kazakhstan. The total weight of humanitarian aid is over 3,500 tonnes, Asia-Plus reported.

The humanitarian supplies include food products, clothing, medical supplies, building materials and other critically needed items. Humanitarian aid is delivered on the initiative of President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon.

61 trains and 13 trucks are delivering the humanitarian aid parcels to disaster-stricken Kazakhstan. Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of Tajikistan, Colonel General of Police Rustam Nazarzoda heads the Tajik delegation. The parcels will be handed over to the Kazakh side in Saryagash town tomorrow.

As was reported, Kazakhstan declared a state of emergency in 8 regions due to spring floods. 4,870 houses in 5 regions were flooded. 117,694 people, including 43,931 children, have been evacuated and displaced since the floods began. Currently, 6,887 people remain in temporary shelters.
