Rahmon and Aliyev urge to bolster multifaceted cooperation

The leaders of the two states discussed a wide range of bilateral relations, as well as major issues on the international and regional agenda.

On April 5, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev. The leaders of the two states discussed a wide range of bilateral relations and exchanged views on major issues on the international and regional agenda, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Highlighting the prospects for bolstering trade and economic cooperation, the interlocutors agreed to take the necessary measures to further expand this area of relations. They identified the investment, industrial, agricultural, transport and fuel and energy sectors as the major areas of interaction.

The interlocutors focused on the prospects for implementing joint projects in the textile, chemical and mining industries, construction material manufacturing and aluminium, cotton fibre, precious and semi-precious stone and metal processing.

It was noted that Tajikistan is interested to cooperate with Azerbaijani companies in the development of oil and gas deposits in the county.

The leaders of the two states urged to boost mutually beneficial relations and bilateral cooperation in combating international terrorism, extremism, illegal drug and arms trafficking, cybercrime and other forms of organized crime.
