Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with President of the World Taekwondo Federation Chungwon Choue in Bishkek. The WTF President said the Federation had decided to award the honorary Taekwondo 9th Dan to the leader of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported to CentralAsia.news.
Chungwon Choue noted that the award ceremony would take place in the near future.
The talks focused on promoting cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Taekwondo Federation in sports and sports medicine. The WTF President informed the Prime Minister that the WTF provides free training in Korean martial arts for children from socially vulnerable families.
Akylbek Zhaparov noted that Taekwondo is very popular in Kyrgyzstan, emphasising that this sport instils self-discipline and willpower in the younger generation.
In 2013, the Taekwondo 9th Dan was awarded to President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.
