On March 27, Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Azim Ibrokhim signed a contract with China Road and Bridge Corporation for the construction of roads and bridges in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region as part of the 4th stage of the project to increase regional transport connectivity in Central Asia Project (BRAMOM-4). The project will cost more than $31 million and be completed within 30 months after the commencement of construction, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.
The project envisages building a 200-metre bridge across the Gund River in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and 1.1 kilometres of roads connecting to the bridge. It is planned to build a 3.4-kilometre road, an avalanche corridor and a bridge in vicinity of the Barsem Lake in Shughnan District.
«Construction work must meet quality requirements, construction schedule and existing regulations and standards. Powerful modern equipment and experienced professionals should be involved in construction work,» the Minister emphasised.
The Ministry of Transport, the Project Implementation Group under the Ministry and the consulting joint venture ISAN Corporation + LLP M50 Consulting Group will monitor the construction project.
