UN to earmark $370 million to boost development of Tajikistan

The funds will be allocated to Tajikistan under the new Cooperation Framework for 2023-2026.

Tajikistan and the United Nations have celebrated the 30th anniversary of cooperation. A festive event marked the anniversary. In their speeches, the government officials and foreign partners stated that the UN would earmark about $370 million to boost development of the Republic, the press office of the United Nations reported to CentralAsia.news.

The funds will be spent under the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework signed by the Government of Tajikistan and the United Nations for 2023-2026.

From 2005 to 2022, the United Nations provided more than $1 billion in aid to the Republic. The cooperation programmes cover a wide range of sectors.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Farhod Salim noted that over 30 years of fruitful cooperation, the country and the international organisation have become reliable partners. He expressed belief that this cooperation will continue to expand.

A photo exhibition «UN in Action: 30 years in Tajikistan» was arranged as a part of the anniversary celebration.
