Emomali Rahmon has arrived in St. Petersburg

The President of Tajikistan will take part in an informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

On December 26, Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon has left for St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation, where he will take part in an informal meeting of the CIS leaders. The Assistant of the President for Foreign Relations and other officials are accompanying the Tajik leader during the trip, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Together with the President of Tajikistan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan are expected to attend the event.

The organisers expressed the hope that it would give an additional impetus to boost mutually beneficial cooperation among the CIS Member States in priority areas and serve as a useful platform for discussing topical issues on the agenda.

During the previous meeting, which was held on October 7 this year, Putin said such informal meetings in St. Petersburg, which have become a tradition, are an opportunity for the CIS leaders to exchange views on the most pressing issues in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
