Tajikistan and IDB to develop new strategy for bilateral cooperation

The progress of the implementation of significant projects in education, healthcare, energy and other socio-economic sectors was reviewed.

On November 6, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser during his working trip to Sharm el-Sheikh to participate in the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The interlocutors discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

An exchange of views on the progress of the implementation of the major projects in such priority areas as education, healthcare, energy, transport, irrigation and other socio-economic sectors of the Republic took place. The interlocutors noted the importance of continuing to finance priority projects in the country, as well as developing and implementing the strategy for cooperation between Tajikistan and IDB.

The interlocutors focused on bilateral partnerships to prevent and mitigate the impacts of climate change and natural hazards and the importance of funding the economic recovery of Tajikistan from the pandemic and other external factors.

Following the talks, held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Tajik leader invited Al-Josser to visit Tajikistan at any convenient time.
