Hotels of tourist zone «Avaza» to introduce green standards

The process will be implemented as part of a joint project of UNDP and Turkmenistan.

The United Nations Development Program, together with Turkmen partners, will introduce green standards in the hotels of the tourist zone «Avaza». The statement was made by Rovshen Nurmuhamedov, the UNDP Assistant Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, as reported by the press office of the United Nations agency.

According to him, the process will first be implemented in a pilot hotel. Energy-saving equipment will be installed there. The equipment will be purchased as part of the project «Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza». After that, training courses for local specialists will be organized. They will be dedicated to the issues of energy efficiency.

Nurmuhamedov raised the topic at the scientific and practical conference «The Caspian Sea — the Sea of Friendship and Harmony» in the tourist zone.

In April this year, as part of a holiday trip to Balkan province, the president of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of maintaining the ecological well-being of «Avaza», and creating new forest zones in the tourist zone.
