President of Uzbekistan identifies development needs of Kashkadarya Region for this year

The key tasks of regional development and the approaches to fulfilling them were considered during an extraordinary session of the Kengash of the region.

On April 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in an extraordinary session of the Kashkadarya Region Kengash during his visit to Kashkadarya Region, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported. 

The recent achievements of the region include the opening of the Uzbekistan GTL synthetic fuel plant in Guzar Region and the ongoing project on the expansion of the Shurtan gas chemical complex. 1.5 trillion soums were allocated from the budget to implement the state programmes, over 150 social facilities are under construction and repair and construction of thousands of kilometres of engineering and communication networks are underway.

Dwelling on the problems to be solved, the President noted access of the population to safe drinking water. Only 43 percent of the population of Kashkadarya Region have access to safe drinking water. Kasan, Dekhkanabad, Guzar and Kamashinsky Regions are in a very difficult situation.

The problems to be solved include public transport, gas and electricity supply, internal roads, construction and reconstruction of kindergartens, delivery of banking services and construction of new schools.

In 2022, 360 billion soums from the republican budget and $100 million in loans of the international financial institutions will be allocated to solve these problems in Kashkadarya Region.

The 2022-2023 programme aimed at developing the industrial potential of the region envisages implementing 270 industrial projects worth 14.7 trillion soums. Over 520 agro-industrial projects worth 7.4 trillion soums are to be implemented, and 143 apartment buildings will be built.
