President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev led a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan to discuss the measures to fight gambling addiction in the country. Particular attention was paid to youth as the most vulnerable group of the population, the Telegram channel Akorda reported.
«In recent years, gambling addiction in Kazakhstan has become increasingly widespread. This was a great tragedy for some families. <…> When fighting ludomania, special attention should be paid to awareness raising and educational measures,» the President of Kazakhstan said, setting specific tasks for the ministries.
The government agencies were instructed to tighten control over gambling activities for certain categories of citizens, and the law enforcement agencies should focus on reducing gambling related crimes.
The President urged to take preventive and other measures to maintain law and order in this industry. For example, the public and the media should promote social attitudes that halt the spread of gambling addiction throughout the country, and the efforts to prevent violations in the gambling industry should be intensified.
