Police officers in Kazakhstan search for unchipped pets in apartments

Pet owners will be fined for the repeated failure to chip their pets.

Strating from September 1, cat and dog owners in Kazakhstan will have to put ID tags or implant chips in their pets. Pet owners who fail to register their pets will be fined, Tengrinews.kz reports.

According to the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources, the state veterinary organisations under akimats are responsible for registration of domestic animals. Individuals and non-governmental organisations that conduct veterinary activities are authorised to register pets as well.

The Committee added that a pet owner will determine how to identify his pet: with a chip, tag or other types of pet identification. Police officer will search for violators. They will make door-to-door enquiries.

individuals will be fined up to 34,500 tenge; repeat violations can bring fines of up to 69,000 tenge.
