President of Uzbekistan informed about progress of construction of two facilities in Tashkent

Both projects are of great social importance for the capital of the Republic.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the ongoing construction projects in the capital city, Tashkent. The Uzbek leader reviewed the progress of construction on the Olympic Village and New Tashkent, which are a priority for the city and of great importance for its development, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

The first project is the Olympic Village, the first foundation stone of which was laid by President Mirziyoyev on November 9, 2022. This facility occupies an area of 100 hectares. It will include football and athletics stadiums, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a cycle track, a water sports palace and team sports and martial arts complexes. It will host one of the main events scheduled to take place in 2025 — the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games.

New Tashkent will spring up in vicinity of the Olympic Village. The President laid the foundation stone of the first multi-storey building under this project on March 18, 2023. It is planned to build apartment buildings that will accommodate over 60,000 residents.
