Sarsenbai Kotyrashov intends to inscribe his name in the Guinness World Records as the oldest round-the-world traveller.

A traveller from Kazakhstan has gone on a walking round-the-world tour. Speaking at the meeting at the Abay Atyrau Youth Resource Centre, Sarsenbay Kotyrashov, 73, announced his intention to circumnavigate the globe in two years and set a world record, Zakon.kz. reported.

The motivations of the retired traveller include the desire to tell the world about the historical value of Ulytau Region and revive the long-forgotten holiday of kumys Kymyzmuryndyk.

«By agreement with UNESCO, I set myself the task of collecting information about Kazakh craftspeople so that they are inscribed on a separate site,» Sarsenbai Kotyrashov said.

According to the retiree, another goal of his tour is to set a world record as the first person who is over 70 years of age to make a walking tour around the world.

Sarsenbay Kotyrashov laid his route across several countries and continents. He intends to travel across Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, USA, China, Mongolia and again Russia and return to his homeland in August 2025.
