Tajikistan to provide skills training to migrant workers

Migrants will be trained, and their families will be supported.

The Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan presented the migration management strategy for the period until 2040 at the roundtable meeting with the government agencies of Tajikistan, Sputnik reports.

The purpose of the document is to regulate migration processes in Tajikistan, covering all areas of internal and external migration. Particular attention will be paid to skills and language training of migrants in the country, since ignorance of languages is the major barrier to employment of Tajik citizens abroad. To do this, adult education centres will provide English, Korean and Japanese language courses.

The Social Fund to support migrant workers and their families will be set up. The policy in this area will be implemented in six stages and for the first time will regulate all aspects of migration, including labour, external, internal and environmental migration and refugees.

Tajikistan also plans to develop an electronic migration registration mechanism at the regional level, and a public council involving government agencies and international and non-governmental organisations will be set up at the Migration Service.
