Bokhtar to host first Uzbekistan-Tajikistan interregional forum

This event is expected to provide a platform for ad-hoc meetings between official and business circles of the two countries in the B2B and G2B formats. 

On June 5, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov had a meeting with Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda in Dushanbe. They discussed the preparations for the first Uzbekistan-Tajikistan forum, which would take place in Bokhtar, Khatlon Region. The large-scale event is expected to provide a platform for ad-hoc meetings between official and business circles of the two countries in the B2B and G2B formats, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reports.

The high-ranking officials focused on implementing the investment projects in priority areas and creating joint ventures that would produce machines, agricultural equipment, household appliances, electrical goods, textiles and building materials, as well as agricultural institutions.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the dynamics of bilateral trade flows that increased by 40% in the first 4 months of the year, as compared to the same period of 2020. They agreed to promote cooperation in the electrical engineering, light, leather, footwear, pharmaceutical and food industries.

The parties would set up a working group consisting of the heads of the industry departments of the two countries that would develop new joint projects based on a competitive advantage analysis of the sectors of the Republics and joint initiatives to expand trade, economic, transport and logistics cooperation.
