Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to increase trade to US$ 1 billion

It was in this context that a discussion on the enhancement of industrial cooperation, partnerships in the mining and electrical engineering sectors took place.

The Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Partnerships held a meeting co-chaired by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda in Tashkent. The agenda focused on the prospects for promoting and increasing bilateral trade to US$ 1 billion in the next few years, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reports.

In this context, the parties exchanged views on joint approaches to enhancing industrial cooperation, partnerships in the mining, electrical engineering, energy and transport sectors and promoting interregional ties.

They considered a wide range of issues related to the promotion of multifaceted partnerships between the two countries in preparation for the upcoming visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan.

The meeting resulted in an agreement on the joint development and implementation of a number of investment projects in the agricultural engineering sector and the improvement of road and rail infrastructure.

The parties signed the protocol on major agreements and key fields of multifaceted cooperation.
