These sporting events, involving women, men, children and retirees, were held throughout the country.
On May 16, a nation-wide running race, marking the National Race Day, which is celebrated in observance of the Youth Day of the Republic, took place in the capital of Tajikistan. 43,810 people participated in the large-scale sporting event, the press office of the Dushanbe City Hall reported.
The running race was organised at the initiative of President Emomali Rahmon. Similar sporting events took place throughout the country, involving over 295,000 people, including 96,101 women.
Representatives of various government departments and organisations participated in the running race, including young citizens and women (16,310).
The event began at the former Chorbog checkpoint at 8 in the morning. The length of the race was 10 kilometres. The final point was the Navruzgoh State Institution.
The nation-wide running race has been held on the third Sunday of May every year since 2007. First Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe Kurbonzod Amirkhon says the number of participants is growing.
