Tajik poet receives two prestigious awards in Russia

Ato Mirkhoja received the Order of Sergei Yesenin and the Medal of Dostoevsky of the Golden Pen Prize.

According to the decision of the Writers’ Union of the Russian Federation, a Tajik poet Ato Mirkhoja received two prestigious awards of the Russian Federation. The Golden Autumn Order of Sergei Yesenin and the Medal of Dostoevsky of the Golden Pen Prize were awarded to the author of poems. The art worker wrote about it on his Facebook page on May 14.

Expressing gratitude to his Russian colleagues for the high evaluation of his creative activity, the poet emphasised that the awards encouraged him to promote Russian literature more widely.

The Order of Sergei Yesenin was awarded to Mirkhoja for the highly artistic translation of the works of Aleksandr Blok, Aleksandr Pushkin and Vladimir Vysotsky from Russian into Tajik.

The Tajik art worker received the Medal of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky of the Golden Pen national literary prize “For beauty, humanism and justice”.

The poet was born in 1963. His first works were published in 1991. He is a member of the Writers’ Union of Tajikistan since 1994.
