A large consignment of the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine CoronaVac was delivered to Turkmenistan on May 9. The medicine was developed by Sinovac company and has already proven to be effective and safe based on the results of several clinical trials, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry announced that the immunization of citizens who are at high risk of contracting coronavirus had already begun due to the sufficient number of doses of vaccines in the country.
Doses of CoronaVac are currently stored in the Center for Public Health and Nutrition of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health, as well as in the sanitary and epidemiological services of capital and provinces.
Earlier Turkmenistan received Russian-made vaccines «Sputnik V» and EpiWakCorona, as well as a Chinese medicine for COVID-19 — BIOwak.
It must be mentioned that immunization is one of the most important vectors for the implementation of the state program of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov — «Health». In this direction, the emphasis is made on increasing the average life expectancy of citizens.
