Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov had a meeting with President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Bandar Hajjar during his working visit. They discussed the preparations for the 46th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), which would be held in Tashkent, and the measures taken to address the organisational issues. The President of the Islamic Development Bank is going to visit the Republic to conduct a road show, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reported on its website.
The parties discussed the progress in implementing the investment projects and initiatives in the country supported by the Bank. The President of the Islamic Development Bank commended Uzbekistan for implementing the initiative to create the Economic Support Fund and expressed belief that this financial institution would be a powerful tool to boost economic growth, eradicate poverty and improve the people’s welfare. In this context, the politicians considered promising aspects of cooperation to mobilize additional reserves and attract new partners to join the Fund, such as the Saudi Fund for Development, the State Investment Fund, financial institutions of the Arab Coordination Group and private investors.
As was reported, the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and IsDB Secretary General Ghassan al-Baba agreed to hold the Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank in the capital of Uzbekistan during their meeting in early March.
