Mamin and top manager of Russian Railways discuss prospects of Eurasian Rail Alliance

This integration project is to increase container transit traffic along the China-Europe railway corridor.

On April 26, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held a meeting with President of Russian Railways JSC Oleg Belozerov. The parties focused on deepening cooperation in the railway and logistics sectors in a bilateral format and within the EAEU, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The meeting agenda covered the further development of the United Transport and Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance JSC (UTLC ERA). This integration project is to increase container transit traffic in the train schedule along the China-Europe railway corridor that runs across Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.

The Prime Minister said Kazakhstan was very interested in enhancing its transport potential. The state policy priorities include the growth of rail freight transport and continued expansion in transit trade across in the region.

The press office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported that, despite the pandemic, the transport of goods in containers through Kazakhstan along the China-Europe corridor had reached 517,000 TEU. In 2020, freight exchange between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation exceeded 85 million tons.
