President of Kazakhstan adjusts national projects

Tokayev focused on the inadmissibility of piling up and duplicating national projects.

On April 21, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev chaired the fifth Meeting of the Supreme Council for Reforms, held by videoconference. The agenda focused on the implementation of the national projects and reform strategy, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The officials reported on the development of the projects, including the Digital Kazakhstan national project and the national agro-industry development project for the period until 2026 and the introduction of the clean slate regulator and put forward the proposals for judicial reforms.

Commenting on the reports, the President provided specific comments on each aspect and gave specific instructions to each official. Tokayev focused on the inadmissibility of oversaturated layering and cloning national projects. “All plans must focus on addressing urgent problems that require concentration of efforts and resources ‘here and now’,” the President said.

The President highlighted the need to select projects on a methodological basis, which should provide for the conceptual socio-economic impact of a national project and be understandable and unbiased.

Tokayev expressed gratitude to his Consultant at the Supreme Council for Reforms Sir Suma Chakrabarti and his team for studying and conducting in-depth analysis of the national projects.
