Turkmen athlete wins 3 medals at Asian Weightlifting Championships

Gulnabat Kadyrova won the gold medal in the snatch (102 kg) and the silver one in the combined total (223 kg).

An athlete from Turkmenistan, Gulnabat Kadyrova, has won three medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championships, which takes place in the capital of Uzbekistan. She competed in the non-Olympic weight class up to 71 kilograms with six other weightlifters. It was reported by «Turkmenistan Today» on April 21.

Kadyrova is a master of sports, a coach of the sports school of the Gurbansoltan eje district, Dashoguz province, as well as a pupil of the honored coach of Turkmenistan Ahmed Saryyev.

The athlete won the gold medal in the snatch (102 kg) and the bronze medal in the clean and jerk (121 kg). According to the results of the competition the weightlifter also managed to win the silver medal combined total. She has given up first place to the weightlifter from the Philippines — Vanessa Sarno with 6 kg.

It must be added that the Asian Weightlifting Championships started on April 16 and will end on April 25. Eleven athletes represent Turkmenistan in this competition. One of them, Maksat Meredov, has already won 2 silver medals — in clean and jerk, and combined total.

It is important to mention that the Turkmen weightlifter Yulduz Jumabayeva won the gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championships, which was held in Ashgabat in November 2018.
